Educational qualifications

To qualify as a real estate agent, you need to complete a short course in real estate or property services. Alternatively, you can acquire a VET qualification in property services. You can choose your university as per your choice of subjects, as they vary according to different institutes.

Therefore, you broadly need to specialize in real estate, agency or agency management. You might also have an option to obtain the degree through distance education.

Eligibility

You are eligible to become a real estate agent if you are above 18 years old, are not bankrupt, have not been convicted for an offence like fraud, drug trafficking, unlawful stalking, etc punishable for three years, in five preceding years. Also you must have at least one place of business in the respective state and should have completed the necessary education.

Additionally, in case you are not or not yet an Australian citizen, you must provide your international passport and a working visa. You should not be disqualified from holding a license under the penal provisions to be eligible to become a real estate agent.
